This unique house is tucked away on a hillside overlooking the mountains and the attractive Lake of Canicada; this is only 200 metres away and here you can swim and sunbathe. Around the lake shore are several cafés and restaurants, and in particular you should eat at ‘Pousada De S. Berto’. The small and picturesque town of Gerez is about 2km away; there you can visit the natural spa and sample the spring water; also we suggest two restaurants that serve simple, good Portuguese food called ‘Rei Das Batas a Murro’ and ‘Residencial Manuel Pires’.
The property is in one of Portugal’s most famous national parks, the Peneda-Gerez, which is internationally recognised by the Union for Nature Conservation for its outstanding natural beauty and history. Lake Caniçada has outstanding views and beautiful surroundings; you can take a half day tour around its perimeter or go on a jeep safari. By the lake you can hire canoes, rowing boats and motor boats.

The house has been decorated and furnished in good taste. On the ground floor is a large living area with dining table to seat 8, and comfortable seating set around a fireplace and satellite TV. From this room a door leads to the patio and barbeque area. Next door to this room is a well-equipped kitchen with fitted cupboards, a cooker, microwave, dishwasher and fridge/freezer.
All four bedrooms are off the main entrance hall. There is a twin bedroom with views overlooking the mountains and lake, and a double bedroom with similar views and an en-suite shower room/WC – both bedrooms have access to a large veranda. There are two more double bedrooms; one with en-suite shower room/WC, the other with access to a bathroom/WC. On the lower level is a large open plan sitting room with a fireplace, billiards table, sofas, TV and bar area. The house has with central heating. The owner who lives nearby is happy to arrange for your laundry to be done, can organise local cooking to be provided, and will help you hire a boat.
Above the property is an indoor 12m x 4m swimming pool which overlooks the lake and is enclosed by glass walls on two sides. The pool can be heated at an additional cost. There is an attractive small garden with azaleas, hydrangeas, pines, oaks and chestnuts trees and also a pleasant patio with a barbecue area.
