The town of Valenca is very picturesque; its old quarter is girdled by 17th Century ramparts overlooking the river Minho, which divided Portugal from its old enemy, Spain, and you can walk over the bridge to Tuy on the Spanish side. The new town has plenty of shops and restaurants, and the old town has a permanent fair. The house is 5km from Valenca and is situated in a peaceful valley from which you can explore the lovely Minho valley, the charming little riverside town of Caminha and the lovely beaches of the Minho coast. Further inland is the magnificent Parc Nacional de Peneda-Geres. The local ‘Restaurant Alto Minho’, is only 2km from the house.
Details of Accommodation
The house was recently renovated by owners who took care to preserve its character and charm while making it their cherished second home. You enter the spacious open-plan living room, through French windows from the terrace which runs along the front of the house. At one end is a kitchen area, with a dishwasher, washing machine, work surfaces tiled in terracotta and fitted cupboards: in the middle of the room is a sofa and 2 armchairs in front of a large fireplace; at the far end of the room is a round dining table. There is also a shower room/WC. On the first floor is a corridor off which are a playroom and three bedrooms; two with twin beds, and the other with a double bed. At the end of the corridor is a bathroom/WC, and a hall which opens onto a veranda with steps to the garden. The house has central heating.
Outside is a paved terrace in front of the house. It has a built-in barbecue and looks over the large curved swimming pool, which is about 60m2 with west facing terrace. There is about 1000m2 of garden mostly of rough mown grass.
