This stone cottage stands on its own private garden and in a quiet part of the grounds of a noble manor house on a 100 acre estate which is largely devoted to the production of Vinho Verde. The house is a typical Minho farmhouse built in granite, with dark red wood work. It has been carefully restored. The property is only 4km from the town of Amares which provides a selection of shops, a weekly market and restaurants and bars. ‘Quinta da Tapada’, ‘Milho-Rei’ and ‘Troia’ are recommended. The estate is bordered by the lovely river Càvado in which you can fish and which flows down from the magnificent, mountainous Parque Nacional de Peneda – Gerês, which is only 20km away.
Braga is only 15 minutes away by car. It is the ancient ecclesiastical capital of Portugal and has some interesting architecture as well as a number of restaurants and markets. Ponte De Lima is about 25 km away and has a fantastic Romanesque bridge and a fair every Monday.

The stone cottage is well restored and furnished in good taste. The front door opens onto an entrance hall, off which is a kitchen with fitted cupboards and a washing machine. On the other side of the hall a door opens into a sitting/dining room with a sofa, 2 armchairs and a dining table. Also off the hall is a double bedroom with its own shower room/wc. Upstairs are two double bedrooms: one with a bathroom/wc, and the other a shower room/wc, each with French windows opening onto a large wooden balcony with lovely views over the garden and river.
The cottage has its own private and pleasant garden with lawn, vines, hortensias and magnolia tree. The 12m x 6m swimming pool with steps, is surrounded by a huge lawn and is in the grounds of the manor house about 30 metres from the cottage; it is shared with the owners.
