This well converted cottage sits next to the owner’s 17th Century farmhouse on an estate which produces grapes for Vinho Verde. It is about 10 minutes walk from the village of Cabaços, where there is a bakery, a village shop and a bar/café. The attractive riverside town of Ponte Lima is 15 minutes drive and has restaurants, cafés, shops, a fair on Mondays and an excellent 18-hole golf course. A wonderful romanesque bridge crosses the river to the town. There is river bathing 20 minutes away and the long beach at Esposendeon the coast is just 30 minutes. The architectural treasures of Braga and the National Park of Gerêz are also easy drives.
Details of Accommodation
The cottage has been decorated and furnished tastefully with terracotta flooring. It comfortably sleeps up to 4/5 but also can be rented by couples at reduced rates outside July & August; in this instance one part is shut off with the other half remaining empty.
You enter the cottage at first floor level directly into an attractively furnished living room with a sofa and armchairs beside a plate glass window which runs the full width of the room and gives panoramic views of vines and hills. There is also TV Satelite and DVD on request. To the left is a double bedroom with its own bathroom/WC. A door opens from the living room into a kitchen: from here another door opens into the other half of the cottage which remains shut when reduced rates apply for couples. Here there is a sitting room with a sofa bed in front of a large traditional fireplace. To the right a door opens into a double bedroom and to the left one door opens into a bathroom/WC, and another door opens onto a covered veranda. On the other side of the cottage is a large granite terrace.
Set in lawns, near to the cottage, is a 8m x 5m swimming pool, which is shared with the owners of the main house.
